LITERACY*AMERICORPS

Literacy*AmeriCorps recruits, trains and places 15 full-time AmeriCorps members to provide literacy services to adults, children and youth in our community. This “domestic literacy Peace Corps” contributes over 25,500 hours per year in tutoring, reading enrichment, community service events, outreach, and volunteer and adult learner recruitment throughout Palm Beach County.

Literacy*AmeriCorps is in its seventh year of operation and has expanded to include a partnership with 12 service sites:
• Adopt-a-Family of the Palm Beaches
• Chancellor Charter School
• DePorres Adult Literacy Center
• ED VENTURE Charter School
• Farmworker Children's Council After School Program
• Florence de George Boys and Girls Club
• Glades Family Education
• Palm Beach County Library Adult Literacy Project
• RCMA Child Development Center
• Village Readers Family Literacy Program
• West Palm Beach Public Library/Children's Services
