My name is James Maynor, Jr. and I'm a homegrown Palm Beach County boy.  I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to give back to the community that gave so much to me throughout my adolescence.  DePorres Adult Literacy Center is a great service site for two main reasons: my students and my fellow AmeriCorps members.  My students are determined and diverse - I am convinced that I learn as much from them as they do from me.  My co-workers are kind and compassionate - they make my service a much more enjoyable endeavor.

Outside of DePorres Place, I'm a serious weightlifter, a casual athlete and an amateur chef.  I enjoy crossword puzzles, Russian literature and authentic Southern BBQ.  I hope to begin law school next year and study public interest law.
