Many of my students have made a considerable amount of progress in reading, but the most remarkable is second grader Jessica S. When I first started tutoring Jessica, she had just gotten an F in reading on her report card. With lots of hard work, she has raised the grade to a C. A few weeks ago, I went into the tutoring room and she had written a note to me on the chalkboard that read, “Miss Ali, you are the best teacher in the whole world because you teach me how to read.”
